Music and Me 2023 (1)

   Hey ya'll! My name is AC Garbade! I am a junior here at Converse and I play on the volleyball team! I am a Special Education major and a FCA Leader here on campus! The most important thing in my life is my relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and my life goal is to make him known and love people like Jesus did! My family  is very important to me as well and they definitely shaped me into the person I am today! My church family and friends are very important to me as well! I interned with my church this summer and got to mentor elementary and middle school girls and it was one of the best experiences. Some of the girls are pictures below!





1. My current go to music on my playlist is "I've witnessed it" by Passion. This song is one I heard at my church here at Spartanburg and I absolutely fell in love with it! I have been playing it on repeat lately. It is definitely one of the best worship songs of this generation in my personal opinion.


2. A piece of music that is personally meningful to me and has been for a while is "Gratitude" by Brandon Lake. The lyrics just really hit home for me and it is also my mom's favorite song. It just really makes me think of home as well. This song is just overall sentimental and very peaceful for me.

3. I just personally don't connect with "Pieces" by Red. I am just not a person who likes heavy metal, but I do appreciate the words of this song and the effort behind this piece. I respect it overall even though it's just not for me. Red as artist are very talented and this might be for other people just personally not for me.

    I can say that I don't listen to a lot of country music, however maybe it's because I never heard any great country before. I really love the melody "Gratitude", Like you said this song is very peaceful and I can see myself listening to this before I go to sleep.

    The most important thing in my life also is my relationship with Jesus! I love that you fell in love with the song I've witnessed it by Passion. I heard for the first time two weeks ago and I also really liked it! I can't believe your mom's favorite song is Gratitude! I love that song! A few months ago I was listening to it repeatedly! I really love the lyrics and the message of the song!

    I like your song Choices and I definitely like how the songs feel even though I am really not into country music I do enjoy what you said about the songs as well.

    I love your second song choice. It definitely feels really close to my heart and I love how its live and you can see all the different instruments.

Music and Rituals!

 Hey ya'll, it's AC Garbade here again! Today I am going to talk about music and rituals and how they go hand in hand in todays world more than we think! My church back home is a baptist church and Christmas is very important in celebrating Christ's birth. We have a tradition/ritual of doing a candle light service shortly before Christmas and one song that has been played at this service for as long as I can remember is "Silent Night". This song is probably the first Christmas song I was introduced to as a child, i love this song very much and have an attachment in a way to it! In Africa a ritual for weddings and cermeonys is playing songs of Praise. There are many music rituals in Africa, but i chose weddings and ceremonys to see the detail of these services.
